Fulfil our renewable power obligations!
JS Power were approached by one of the big four supermarkets looking for a solution to the 10% renewable energy obligation imposed by planning conditions. The client wanted to regenerate and extend one of their stores and had quickly ruled out the options of wind or solar power.
With our reputation for turnkey power solutions, the supermarket chain was eager to see how we could help.
A quiet biodiesel generator
A 250kVA biodiesel containerised generator was the ideal solution for the client’s renewable power obligation. Not only does it give many of the benefits of a standard diesel generator, biodiesel causes much less of a problem if it is spilled, and reverts to natural vegetable oils after around 21 days in the environment. What’s more, the bunded 20,000l external fuel tank is fitted with a bund leak alarm as standard, and associated pipework was bunded to ensure that a leak was unlikely.
The spacious container surrounding the genset allows all relevant equipment to be stored with the generator, and also offers sound protection for workers and site neighbours.
Once the renewable fuel obligation has been met, the system can revert to a backup capacity, ready to cut in automatically in case mains power is lost.
